
Wheeler will be responsible for developing Virgin Media's music strategy and bringing new services to consumers across Virgin's mobile, TV and online portfolio.
Wheeler led Orange's content partnerships and worked with the product and marketing teams to deliver music and film services across its platforms and negotiated contracts, both locally and globally, with UK music providers, record labels, artists, film studios and distributors.
Before joining Orange, Wheeler worked for five years at Sanctuary Music Group, where he had roles in marketing, artist management and music publishing, before being appointed vice-president of digital business development.
Jon James, director of broadband at Virgin Media said now was a time of "great change and opportunity" in the music business and that, thanks to its fibre optic network, Virgin Media was "uniquely well-placed" to bring innovative new services to consumers.
