Orange seeks to lure teen texters

LONDON - Orange is aiming to cash in on the teenage text messaging craze with a direct marketing campaign promoting its latest package for pay-as-you-go mobile users.

The company is targeting 16- to 18-year-olds with the mailing, created by Craik Jones Watson Mitchell Voelkel, in an effort to tempt them away from rival networks such as O2, which has also been promoting text services in recent advertising campaigns.

The Orange mailing highlights the Out Here package, which offers 1,000 free text messages a year.

It also underlines the fact that customers switching from other networks can avoid the hassle of having to change their mobile numbers.
