Orange delays the full launch of IPTV

LONDON – Orange delays the full launch of IPTV Communications provider Orange has delayed the full commercial launch of its IPTV service until later this year.

The company recently said that it was on track to launch commercially before the end of 2007. But the service has been rolled out only on a trial basis to around 300 paying Orange customers in London and Leeds.

An Orange spokesperson said: “From our perspective, the platform is up and running in Leeds and London, but it’s important we get it right for the commercial launch.

“We don’t want a full commercial roll-out with a measured launch in certain cities. We are looking at [that] some point in the first half of this year.”

There will be no marketing of the IPTV service until the full commercial roll-out takes place. Orange TV will become the UK’s third IPTV service, along with Tiscali TV and BT Vision.
