Through the partnership, customers exchange tickets in HMV right up to the day of the event.

Seatwave will also launch an online ticket exchange for HMV.

Seatwave chief executive Joe Cohen said: ‘We see a great future in being able to offer fans gig tickets, band merchandise and recorded music in one package.'

The company added that the move would help the company combat ticket delivery issues caused by the postal strike.

Simon Fox, group chief excutive for HMV, said: ‘Our partnership with Seatwave enables us to extend ticketing choice and convenience to HMV customers online and in stores.'

Seatwave plans to offer an e-delivery service in 2010.
