Describe the marketing team in three words.
Passionate, dedicated, family.
How do you come up with fresh marketing ideas?
We work closely with our agencies - venturethree, QD and Libertine, but discussion and ideas are welcomed within HMV and this helps to foster a dynamic environment.
What is the main marketing challenge you face?
We work in an industry that is in a constant state of flux - more has probably changed in the past five years than in the previous 20, so we have to adapt and learn new things
all the time.
What are the perks of the job?
HMV's a great, fun company to work for. Most people are here because they have a real passion for music, film and games, so being able to work in such an environment is wonderful. If we're lucky, we also get to go to the occasional gig, film screening and premiere.
What is the team's local pub?
Our current favourites include Nellie Dean's and the Bath House on Dean Street, The Star & Garter on Poland Street and The Ship on Wardour Street.
Is there a dress code?
It's pretty relaxed.
What is the company like for training and career progression?
HMV has a great personal development plan, Love to Learn. It features training and support that can fast-track you through the business.
What about the salary and benefits package?
Earnings and benefits are in line with different grades, and salaries are competitive.
What are the hours like?
Officially, 9am to 5:15pm, with flexi-time built in, but like all other businesses these days, there's a great deal to get done, so hours can be a little longer.
Are there any downsides?
Not really. Overall, we're pretty happy with our lot.
