OMD/MySpace link is an agency first

LONDON - OMD has become the first media agency to launch into a joint venture with social network MySpace to build a major presence on the site.

The agency has created a MySpace profile (myspace.com/omduk) to act as a hub for OMD employees, as well as being the main platform for displaying work and the firm's values.

Jonathan Allan, managing director of OMD UK, said it was vital for the agency to have an online presence other than just a corporate website.

Allan said: "It means we can exist in a space where a lot of different people are, and use it to recruit."

Nick Reid, head of sales at MySpace, said: "It makes it a lot easier to show off work and case studies, and to get new people to engage with OMD. It's great for the online guys there and important strategically for those working in offline."
