Olympic Torch to pass Downing Street and Buckingham Palace

The final stages of the Olympic Torch relay route were revealed today (14 June) as Olympic organiser Locog gave details of the penultimate day's journey.

The torch will travel from Camden to Westminster on 26 July, the 69th day of its 70-day relay around the UK.

Street-by-street details of . The penultimate day’s route was only revealed today due to the complex arrangements involved.

On 26 July, the torch will be carried by 175 torchbearers and will pass several high-profile locations such as Downing Street and Buckingham Palace.

It will begin the day outside the Roundhouse in Camden and will travel by barge along Regent’s Canal.

It will visit the giant Olympic rings in the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras International as well as St Paul’s Cathedral, the Museum of London, Shakespeare’s Globe and the site of the 1908 Olympic Stadium in White City, before concluding the day at .

Large crowds are expected and some areas will have restricted capacity.

On the next day (27 July), the torch will travel by boat from Hampton Court to Tower Bridge before it appears at the Opening Ceremony in the Olympic Stadium for the official opening the Games.
