Camley has been chief executive of Royal Parks for the past six and a half years, overseeing events like the Royal Wedding, Live 8 and Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park.

At the OPLC he will be responsible for running events in the 250 acres of parkland, and ensuring transport connections and maintenance run smoothly.

One of his first projects will be opening the South Plaza, a 50-acre outdoor site between the Olympic Stadium and the Aquatics Centre, which will offer space for festivals, concerts and other events.

Camley said: "This is an extraordinary time to be joining the legacy company as plans for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park takes shape. To be part of one of Europe’s largest regeneration projects is a great opportunity. I want to create a park that is loved by local communities and is visited again and again."

Before moving to the Royal Parks, Camley was director of the Supreme Court in Her Majesty’s Courts Service.
