Olympic Long Jump gold medallist Greg Rutherford and Paralympic couple Sarah and Barney Storey will be joined by fellow athletes for the switch-on of the lights, which will then be followed by fireworks display.

The night will open with a choral performance of the 12 Days of Christmas, followed by songs from the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Matilda The Musical and classical music from trumpet soloist Tine Thing Helseth, all-female quintet The Masques and opera singer Noah Stewart.

The Christmas lights themselves will feature tributes to the Olympians and Paralympians success this summer, decorated with gold holly and red berry garlands. Gold plaques along the street will tell the story of the 12 days of Christmas.
