OK! Magazine flies into top celebrity weekly spot

LONDON - Northern & Shell's OK! Magazine has regained its position as top celebrity weekly, knocking H Bauer's Closer off the number one spot, according to the magazine ABC figures for July to December 2007.

OK! Magazine has reported a circulation of 683,451, up a staggering 22.7% on the first half of 2007 and up 9.5% year on year.

The top-selling issue during the period was Jordan and Peter Andre presenting their baby Princess Tiaammi, which sold 882,000 copies in August.

The two next-best sellers were Chanelle and Ziggy's "posh" wedding, with 708,000 copies in September, and Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson presenting their baby Ruby, with 699,000 copies in October.

Nielsen MMS data shows that OK! spent £3.25m on TV advertising between July and November alone.

Closer dropped to second position with a circulation of 548,594 copies, down 3.8% period on period and down 10.7% year on year.

Heat followed with a circulation of 533,034, down 4.5% period on period and 11% year on year.

Closer and Heat are now owned by H Bauer, following its acquisition of Emap's consumer magazine division in January.

IPC's Now retained its number four spot with a circulation of 470,290, falling 4.8% over six months and 12.9% year on year.

Northern & Shell's New! followed close behind with 464,727, up 5.1% on the first half of 2007 and 1.7% year on year.

Hello!'s circulation was 405,615, down 3.4% period on period and 1.7% year on year.

ACP-NatMags' Reveal follows with a circulation of 326,057, down 6.1% period on period and 5.6% year on year.

Finally Northern & Shell's Star climbed an impressive 20.3% over six months to 305,806 and is up 13.4% year on year.
