Leih, who will leave the agency at the end of August, will be succeeded by Paul O'Donnell, who is chairman of OgilvyOne in Europe and vice-chairman of Ogilvy Europe. Rory Sutherland will continue as group vice-chairman.

‘Gary has made a huge contribution to our company, and we're sorry to see him go. He made a remarkable difference to the London office. If Ogilvy Group UK is a leader in integrated marketing services today, it was Gary's energy and optimism that sparked the renaissance. We will miss him,' said Shelly Lazarus, chairman of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide.

Ogilvy is in the process of recruiting a new chief executive for Ogilvy Advertising, with creative partner Will Awdry taking the role of acting managing director. In February, former Ogilvy Advertising managing director Guy Lambert left the agency to join design consultancy Jones Knowles Ritchie (JKR).
