Oasis join with NME magazine for top indie CD giveaway

LONDON – The NME is offering readers a free CD with 13 tracks selected by Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis, featuring bands that supported them on their 2005 world tour, including The Coral, The Zutons and The Futureheads.

It is the second time this year that NME has offered readers a CD selected by a well-known band. On June, readers were given a free CD with tracks taken chosen by Green Day.

The CD, which is available in the issue out this week, includes an exclusive live track by Oasis and a seven-page preview of this years' 10th anniversary V Festival, which takes place this weekend.

Oasis are featured on the front cover of the magazine with the quote "This is the best time in music for years" and inside the issue Noel has reviewed each of the bands on the CD.

Conor McNicholas, editor of NME, said: "Oasis are the UK's most popular band so we're expecting big things from this issue. Getting anything out of Noel and Liam is hard enough so this CD is a real coup. The great thing was, Noel was behind his project from the start."

The issue also contains NME's festival preview with bands such as Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand, Jet, Ian Brown and more.

Oasis's new album 'Don't Believe the Truth' came out earlier this year to positive reviews after several mis-hits.
