Cowdry plans to return to O2 next summer. In the meantime, the interim marketing role is being split to ensure a strong focus across the business is maintained, according to the company.

Rampling will look after the consumer postpay, SME, broadband/new product development and own-brand devices teams. Johnston will oversee prepay, brand, CRM, products and strategy.

Both will sit on the O2 UK board, reporting to Ronan Dunne.
