Shaw joins O&M after six years at Wieden+Kennedy at its offices in Portland and London. As regional planning director, Shaw will lead O&M's network of planners, which comprises more than 60 planners in offices around the region.
Miles Young, chairman of O&M Asia Pacific, said: "John is a classic insight-driven planner with a great track record at Wieden+Kennedy in London and the US, where he has led the thinking on brands such as Nike, Coke and Microsoft. He's also got a broad communication approach, which makes him very sympathetic to our 360掳 culture."
Shaw brings extensive experience working with big brands. He has headed planning at various times on Nike, Microsoft, Miller Brewing, Amazon.com, Coca-Cola and Pizza Hut. Prior to that, he worked at Young & Rubicam in London and direct marketing agency Wunderman.
Shaw was based in the UK for a two-year stint before returning to Portland in early 2001.
