- Hugh Derrick, Wieden & Kennedy's managing director has left the agency after less than a year in the role with no job to go to.

Derrick, the second managing director to leave the agency since it opened in 1998, has sited the lack of cohesion between the agency's core staff for his departure.

"Wieden's is a private organisation with very strong principles about its creative leadership. It has never managed to find a team that can gel to do that. It was a job that I thoroughly enjoyed doing but that was extremely difficult," said Derrick.

Dave Luhr, W&K's chief operating officer in Portland says that the search is already under way for Derrick's replacement with an announcement expected in about two weeks.

Luhr is looking to recruit from the UK market.

In the meantime, Danielle Crooke, head of account management and John Shaw, planning director at W&K will run the agency.
