Nuts editor takes home BSME launch of the year award

LONDON - Phil Hilton, editor of IPC's men's weekly Nuts, has won the Launch of the Year Award at the British Society of Magazine Editors Awards.

Hilton topped a shortlist that included Paul Merrill (Zoo), Christine Hayes (Olive), Tim Southwell (Golf Punk), Ceri Thomas (BBC Easy Gardening) and Gareth Ogden (Custom PC).

Hilton said: "The late nights, soul searching and alcohol dependency have all paid off. I feel like cutting the award up and handing pieces out to each member of my brilliant, dedicated team."

Nuts achieved a debut ABC of 290,337 for the January to June 2004 period.

Other notable winners were: Michael Jacovides (Carlos), Consumer Contract Magazine of the Year; Catherine Monk (Build It) and the magazine House Race for Innovation of the Year; and Woman's Own's Elsa McAlonan, who won the Brand Building Initiative of the Year for the 30th Anniversary Woman's Own Children of Courage Awards.
