NUS in site overhaul to tempt advertisers

NUS Services, the company that co-ordinates the trading activity of student unions in the UK, has revamped its web site to ramp up advertising opportunities and allow members to trade online.

The site (www.nussl.co.uk), which was developed by digital communications agency Code, will highlight opportunities for advertisers and brand owners to reach the UK's two million-strong student population through brand promotion and sampling activities.

Brands that have used NUS Services for promotions include Britvic Soft Drinks, Top Shop and Vladivar Vodka.

The site will also provide explanations of what the organisation offers to student unions.

Code has produced an extranet service to allow student unions to manage administrative processes online, including stock management, purchasing and billing. The extranet will also give unions, which are shareholders in NUS Services, access to key trading data.

Tony Foggett, founding director of Code, said the site - which replaces paper-based manuals - will enable union bar managers and events organisers to manage orders and take up discounts online for the first time.
