Nunwood believes the in-store video observation will help retailers to understand how consumers interact with the shopping environment.
In-store cameras capture shoppers' behaviour for extended periods of time, providing more detailed and nuanced information about consumers.
This may help to assess the effectiveness of in-store merchandising and point-of-purchase communications.
Ian Addie, senior retail consultant at Nunwood, said: "The inclusion of video observation alongside quantitative and qualitative survey techniques allows us to evaluate shopper behaviours which work at a subconscious level more effectively.
"Much of what we do, and don't do in a store environment is not a conscious decision. Getting to the bottom of an effective evaluation of retail environments in order to maximise their leverage potential for sales necessitates approaches which not only collect the views of shoppers but also evaluate their behaviours."
In April Nunwood appointed Sarah Houghton, previously group account director at Millward Brown, as managing director of its newly opened London hub.
