In his new role, Davies will oversee NTL's internet and digital TV content portals and manage relations with joint-venture broadcast partners such as BSkyB and ITN.
This is the second time that NTL has poached key management staff from JWT. Last September, JWT's chief executive Stephen Carter left the agency to become NTL's managing director.
Davies joins NTL after 11 years at JWT. He joined as a graduate trainee in 1990 and, in 1999, he became director of the NTL account before setting up Digital@JWT.
Davis is the second director to leave the JWT digital unit since it was established. Earlier this year, it lost director of strategy Tim Hayward who quit the agency for TBWA\London.
Hayward had a short stay at JWT having only joined in early 2001 from HHCL & Partners, where he was interactive director.
JWT is seeking a replacement for Davies, however in the meantime David King, managing director of Digital@JWT in the Middle East, Europe and Africa, will oversee his duties.
