Subscribers will be able to receive high-speed internet services by connecting their digital cable set-top box, which includes a cable modem, to their PC. The company says it is the first service of its kind in the world.
After its initial launch in Manchester on Monday, the service will roll out through the UK "in due course", according to an NTL spokesman. He said that 8,000 customers had pre-registered for the service in Manchester.
The service will cost £24.99 a month for DigitalPlus customers and it will also be packaged as a triple bundle, including digital cable TV, standard telephone rental and broadband internet access, for £39.98.
