NSPCC named beneficiary of IDM Charity Ball 2003

LONDON - Children's charity the NSPCC has been named the beneficiary of this year's IDM Charity Ball, which takes place at the Royal Lancaster hotel on October 22.

The theme for the 2003 ball will be 'Pop Idol', following on from last year's 'Stars in their Eyes' night, in aid of Nabs.

Professor Derek Holder, managing director of the IDM, said: "As well as being in aid of a good cause, the IDM Charity Ball is the only real opportunity for the direct marketing community to let its hair down without the ritual of an awards ceremony or formal presentation. I am delighted that this year the event is in aid of the NSPCC and I am sure we will get plenty of support in terms of sponsorship, prize donations and ticket sales."

The IDM will launch a campaign to encourage participation from the direct marketing industry after Easter and additional fundraising on the night will include a charity auction.

Agencies, suppliers and client companies are now being approached to contribute to the event to maximise the fundraising effort. Any organisations interested in sponsorship, or making a prize donation to the charity auction, should contact Lisa Turner, head of marketing at the IDM, on 020 6614 0248.

Last year's event was supported by companies including Centrica, BT Retail Solutions, Argos Financial Services, WWAV Rapp Collins, Stream City and Orchid PR among others.
