Norwich Union Life hunts for DM shop

LONDON - Aviva is hunting for an agency to handle its Norwich Union Life direct marketing account.

The insurance specialist has approached several agencies to pitch for a place on the Norwich Union roster. Meetings will take place at the end of July, and the successful agency will handle all direct mail and response advertising for the life insurance brand.

Norwich Union, which spent more than £20 million on direct marketing last year, currently uses Crayon Direct Marketing to handle the below-the-line work on its life insurance arm. It is not known if the incumbent will repitch for the business.

Aviva kicked off a statutory review of its roster of agencies for its Norwich Union Home, Motor, Healthcare and niche brands in May 2006. The company retained the incumbent agencies TDA, Crayon Direct Marketing and Fox Murphy, while adding Kitcatt Nohr Alexander Shaw to the roster.

Kitcatt Nohr was appointed to Norwich Union Healthcare after a shoot-out against Partners Andrews Aldridge in August. Finally, in November, the Motor and niche insurance brands went to Kitcatt Nohr without a pitch.

The review comes after the appointment of Crawford Davidson, who joined Norwich Union Life as the marketing director from Tesco.com in September last year.
