The rollout of the websites means that the Northclilffe Media regional arm of Daily Mail & General Trust (DMGT) now has more online news sites as part of its "This is" network, than it does printed newspapers. Northcliffe Media has 113 newspapers and 151 "thisis" websites.

The bulk of the launches will be hyperlocal offerings and will include new sites for Hucknall, Sherwood and Eaton areas of Nottingham, which the website ThisisNottinghman.co.uk previously served.

It is thought that the company will look to launch more sites as it bids to offset declining sales of its regional newspapers and bolster its online readership.

Northcliffe released audited traffic data for 10 of its regional news websites last week, claiming the sites are growing 45% year on year.
