NHS Leicester launches teen shock drama

LONDON - NHS Leicester City has launched an online teen drama series as part of its hard-hitting teenage pregnancy and sexual health campaign.

The six-part mini-series, called Kicks, follows the Trust's recent ‘Teenage Kicks' viral which featured shocking footage of a schoolgirl giving birth on a playing field and which was banned from YouTube.

The soap, on hey-babe.co.uk, is intended to educate young people on issues around relationships, sex and pregnancy. Young people can get advice on the site.

The new series been developed by The Rocket Science Group, and has been created in a gritty ‘Skins' style to appeal to its target audience. Midlands based actors have been used and Leicester landmarks are easily identifiable throughout the episodes to appeal to local young people.

Around 1 in every 20 young women aged 15-17 in Leicester becomes pregnant.
