The sales outfit, launched in the UK in 2008, will be the first third-party sales house to handle Newsquest's online video inventory, which was previously dealt with in-house.

Utarget, the online video sales arm of .Fox, will be responsible for selling Newsquest's entire online video inventory across its portfolio of 150 websites, including The Herald in Scotland and Brighton's The Argus newspapers.

In 2008, News Corp acquired a majority stake in Utarget for an undisclosed sum and, in July, Utarget merged its sales and publisher services with Fox Networks.

Utarget's chief executive and founder Phil Cooper continued in his role with added responsibility for the overall Fox operations in the UK, while Federica Aperio, UK managing director, added oversight of sales, publisher services and ad operations for all products to her role.

Roger Green, Newsquest Media Group's managing director of digital media, said the business had been delivering online video across its sites, but is now looking to ramp up the medium to boost digital revenues.

Separately, .Fox has been appointed to handle all online ad sales for Contactmusic.com, Rosemaryconley.com, TotallyGNnetwork and Tennis.com. It also landed online video sales for TVcatchup.com.
