Monthly visitors to the Mirror.co.uk website were up 12% on May nearly 30 million unique users, according to figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations published today.

The growth ensured the Mirror had the fastest growing national newspaper website, up 85% on the same month last year, to hit 1.4 million 'unique browsers' a day and a monthly total of 29,354,671.

News UK’s Sun website was up 2% to 1.8 million daily average browsers. Year on year browsers were up 18% to 29,603,055 monthly browsers.

Elsewhere, June was a record month for Guardian.co.uk, reaching 84.9 million unique browsers for the first time. The figure, which beats the previous record of 82.9 million set in May this year. Daily average browsers were up 4.7% to 4,884,043.

David Pemsel, chief commercial officer at Guardian News & Media, said: "June was an incredible month for the Guardian. Our explosive NSA revelations made headlines in the US - one article becoming our most popular ever - helping to drive traffic to an overall record high.

"Our editorial success provides us with a great commercial opportunity and as we prepare to move to a new global domain, theguardian.com, never before have we been in such a strong position to offer commercial partners around the world access to our engaged global audience."

Mail Online continues to be the most popular newspaper website in the UK, with 120.8m browsers a month and 8.1m a day in June. The site, which incorporates content from the Daily Mail, broke its record for average daily unique visitors in the UK, reaching a high of 3,642,330 last month, 1.6% higher than the previous month and a 42.2% increase on June 2012.

A spokesman for MailOnline added the site had achieved 41,666,242 monthly unique browsers in the UK in June 2013, which is a 25.9% rise year on year, and significantly larger than the UK uniques of its nearest rivals Guardian (26,556,058) and the Telegraph (21,117,512).
