NEWSPAPER ABCes: MailOnline increases lead at the top

MailOnline has increased its lead over Guardian.co.uk and registered 2.49 million average daily browsers in June, according to the latest round of ABCe figures.

MailOnline has now been the most visited site for the past six months, according to the ABCe’s preferred measure, daily average browsers.

grew its average daily browser number by 3.99% from May.

, the network that includes The Guardian and The Observer, increased 1.3% to 2.04 million average daily browsers in the month. Guardian.co.uk remains the second most visited site.

June’s ABCe figures mark the first full month figures since News International introduced a registration wall and separate sites for The Times and The Sunday Times.

News International, which has stopped publishing figures through ABCe,  introduced the registration wall on 24 May and subsequently a paywall on 2 July.

registered 1.78 million average daily browsers in June, an uplift of 6.7% on the previous month. The site is the third most popular national newspaper site.

Mirror Group Digital achieved month-on-month growth of 5% to record 527,564 daily average browsers.

The Independent drew in 492,372 average daily browsers, up 2.2% on the previous month.
