
Brooks will be presented with her award on 20 July at the graduation ceremony for students from London College of Communication, where she studied for her journalism degree.
After editing the News of the World for three years from 2000, Brooks became the first female editor of The Sun in 2003. She went on to become chief executive of News International in 2009.
Brooks is a founder member of Women in Journalism, an organisation created in response to a demand for women to be more effectively represented at senior level in newspapers and magazines.
Previous recipients of the fellowship include former Times editor Sir Harold Evans, former Guardian Media Group chief executive Sir Robert Phillis and BBH co-founder Sir John Hegarty.
