New Welsh arts centre launches membership drive

LONDON - Wales Millennium Centre has appointed Burnett Works to develop and promote a fundraising scheme along the lines of a 'friends of' programme that will enhance members' experience of the centre.

The Wales Millennium Centre opened in Cardiff in November and will be home to the Welsh National Opera and eight other resident companies, spanning dance to poetry. Membership of the scheme is available for an annual donation of 拢30.

Burnett Works is developing print and online marketing material for the recruitment drive, having already worked with WMC on a consultancy basis to test different fundraising ideas with different audiences.

In addition, the agency is developing a regular newsletter for members of the scheme, and has produced designs for the membership card and letterhead.

Richard Tynen, development director at WMC, said: "The centre is monumental, not just for the arts in Wales, but for the UK as a whole. We needed an agency we could trust, who offered great thinking, great creative and great project management skills to get this work delivered on time and on budget. Burnett Works gave us all this and more."

Burnett Works is a direct marketing agency working for the not-for-profit sector. Current clients include Cancer Research UK, Friends of the Earth and Macmillan Cancer Relief.
