Lifebegins.net (www.lifebegins.net), a new portal and online
magazine, is to target ”silver surfers with attitude” among the over-50s
and will include content on subjects as risque as Tantric sex and
swinging.
To be launched by NetKnowledge, the site has been designed to offer a real
alternative to the small but growing number of British web sites aimed at
an over-50s audience because its content is compiled, written and
researched by staff of a similar age.
Managing director Dean Adams said: ”Age is secondary. It’s about a
positive outlook on life. When you get to that age, it doesn’t mean you
want to give up.
It’s not all gardening and playing bridge - we’re going to include sexual
healing, a section called ”over the rainbow” for the over-50s gay
community, and alternative lifestyles, including homeopathic medicines. We
don’t believe that we should present a closed point of view.”
The site is due to go live on 14 January. Adams said that it will stand
out from other silver surfer sites, such as Vavo. com and I Don’t Feel 50
(www.idf50.com). ”We’re not just a site,” he explained, ”we’re a portal,
and so we’ll be including links to other sites.”
Lifebegins will also present a wide selection of arts, travel, fitness and
education information and a chat forum as well as an e-commerce element
that is yet to be finalised.
