Nestle, whose water brands include Vittel and San Pellegrino, reported that global sales of bottled water had slipped 2.9% to £2.6bn in the first half of the year. This had resulted in organic sales rising 3.5% in the first half, missing analysts forecast of 3.9%.

Revenue from Nestle's nutrition business also suffered in the first half, rising just 1.5%. However it plans to mirror Unilever and increase sales volumes by cutting prices.
