Neptunus: Frieze frame

Temporary structures specialist Neptunus supplied 40,000 sq m of temporary exhibition space at this year's Frieze Art Fair and Frieze Masters. The four-day event was held in Regent's Park in London and welcomed thousands of art enthusiasts. Neptunus specified its vast Alu Halls to accommodate both events as the structure's 'blank canvas' characteristics provided the perfect backdrop to display the art. The Alu Halls had clear span widths of 32m, 40m and 50m and created modern exhibition space. 1,500 tons of materials were used and it took Neptunus just twelve days to erect the halls, three days ahead of schedule.

Temporary structures specialist Neptunus supplied 40,000 sq m of temporary exhibition space at this year's Frieze Art Fair and Frieze Masters.

The four-day event was held in the grounds of Regent’s Park in London.

The eleventh edition of the Frieze Art Fair presented over 152 of the most interesting contemporary galleries working today from Brazil, China and South Africa. This year featured two specialist sections: Focus, dedicated to galleries up to ten years old, and Frame, for young galleries.
Frieze Masters highlighted the relationship between old and new by displaying everything from antiquities and old masters art to 20th century pieces.

This year’s fair saw a redesign, which featured more sizeable public areas, and the return of the Frieze Sculpture Park. Located in the beautiful surroundings of the English Garden, The Sculpture Park exhibited contemporary sculptures alongside historical pieces, with new works by both established and emerging artists represented by Frieze London and Frieze Masters exhibitors.

Neptunus specified its vast Alu Halls to accommodate both events as the structure’s ‘blank canvas’ characteristics provided the perfect backdrop to display all the styles of art.

The Alu Halls had clear span widths of 32m, 40m and 50m and created modern exhibition space, which included a café, sponsors area, press room and auditoriums. 1,500 tons of materials were used and it took Neptunus teams just twelve days to erect the halls, three days ahead of schedule.

For Frieze Masters the floor space compared to last year was increased by 15%. The Alu Halls were 50m wide and in lengths of 50m, 130m and 110m. 800 tons of materials were used to form the exhibition halls, which took just eight days to complete.

Neptunus installed a mezzanine of 300 sq m for a café area inside 50m structure, which was also fitted with a transparent gable, allowing visitors to look out at views of the picturesque park.
The structures from both sites will be disassembled after the event and removed without trace in eight days.
"We're excited to have worked with Neptunus," comments Louise Dixon, Production Director. "Neptunus are market leaders in temporary structures and have extensive experience across Europe - their constant strive for innovation and commitment to quality, has delivered unique and bespoke structures that meet our needs as one of the world's leading art fairs."
