NatWest targets students in month-long link with Amazon

High-street bank NatWest has teamed up with e-tailer Amazon.co.uk as part of an online ad campaign to drive sign-ups to its Student Account.

The bank is to launch a one-month campaign with the e-tailer across youth-targeted information and entertainment portal Student123.com and uni-versity evaluation site studentguide.co.uk.

Web site users are being offered deals that include a £40 deposit or a Student Starter Kit, which comes with a toaster, a kettle and a radio alarm clock.

Those who apply before 20 September will receive a £10 gift certificate that can be used at Amazon.co.uk.

The campaign will use executions including Tangozebra's patented Overlayz, which will feature a toaster that floats across the web page. Other activity will include banners and a financial advertorial explaining Student Account products.

A branded newsletter is also being sent out to about 50,000 relevant Student123.com and studentguide.co.uk members.

"This campaign is designed to sign up undergraduate accounts by targeting 17- to 19-year-olds who are heading for university, said Paul Heming, managing director of Punch Media, the company that runs both Student123.com and studentguide.co.uk.

To sign up for the account, which offers a student credit card, special deals on insurance and access to financial advisers, users are sent to www.natweststudents.com.
