LONDON (Brand Republic) - Online music file-swapping service Napster has lost one-fifth of its users following the court ruling in March that ordered the company to stop trading in copyrighted music, according to research from Jupiter Media Metrix.
The number of users dropped from 15m in February to 12m in March, after Napster installed a filtering system to block copyrighted music from its servers.
Although Napster is still one of the most popular destinations on the web, fewer visitors are now downloading music, according to the report.
Napster has appealed against the court ruling.
