Napster in court again

Napster and the Recording Industry Association of America will attend a hearing in a San Francisco court today to decide whether Napster has complied with a previous order to remove copyrighted music from its online service.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - Napster and the Recording Industry Association of America will attend a hearing in a San Francisco court today to decide whether Napster has complied with a previous order to remove copyrighted music from its online service.

The RIAA claims that Napster has failed to comply with the injunction -- which was issued in March -- ordering the company to install filtering software to block copyrighted songs.

The recording industry was ordered to provide Napster with a list of offending material, but Napster claims that the lists of songs were confusing. If the court decides that Napster has failed to comply, the company could face harsher penalties or complete closure.
