Naked and Ramp Industry launch Zoomer website for Honda

LONDON - Naked Communications and Ramp Industry have teamed up to create a dedicated website for Honda's Zoomer scooter customers.

The Zoomer scooter with its ultra-fat tyres from Honda is designed to be as stripped back as possible, so that people can customise it to fit with their lifestyle.

Naked came up with the idea for the website to allow UK Zoomers to share ideas, customising tips and experiences.

Naked commissioned youth market specialist and internet design agencyRamp Industry to create the website.

It features editorial from UK Zoomers including pop artist Peter Blake, Scottish proprietor Howard Hughes, skateboard collective Moving Units and concept store Oki-Ni.

Moving Units fastened a ramp to their bike, while Hughes made space for rifles, whisky and a sporran. Ramp Industry's sister PR agency UP-PR sourced the artists for the site.

Elsewhere on the site, there are downloads to make Zoomer T-shirts, screensavers, links to overseas Zoomer sights and Zoomer bike purchase details.

Andy Crysell, managing partner of Ramp Industry, said: "Creatively and editorially, it's about developing a space in which the Zoomer owners can tell their stories. In terms of sourcing new artists and contributors, it's about ensuring the reach extends through unexpected networks, not just the tried and tested."

Naked, which had worked for Honda on previous media strategies, was chosen as Honda did not believe that conventional advertising would achieve the intended objectives of seeding the bike and creating demand.

There are also plans for a Zoomer exhibition, exploring the Zoomer culture in Japan and showcasing the different bikes.
