MySpace launches music TV channel

MySpace is moving into online video with a new music showcase channel, Earwig TV.

The site, at http://uk.myspace.com/earwigtv, will show music videos from selected MySpace new bands and artists.

MySpace claims the channel will act as a destination for music fans to find its "best new musical talent in one profile".

At launch, the profile will feature live footage and interviews from 11 bands and artists, all tipped to be big in 2008.

Operahouse, Palladium and The Raid are among the bands that will introduce themselves, their scene and music at launch.

Video content on Earwig TV will also be promoted across the site, offering new artists and labels more exposure to MySpace's 10 million monthly unique users.

"Earwig TV is a place where music fans can discover new talent and be the first to hear about the acts of tomorrow," said Dom Cook, marketing and content director, MySpace UK.

"MySpace is already the home of music, so the launch of Earwig TV is a natural next step in exposing the next generation of stars to our 10 million unique users."

To be considered for Earwig TV, artists or labels need to satisfy the MySpace talent hunters. Bands can be signed or unsigned, from any part of the world and any genre.

An on-site promotional campaign including banners and a homepage musical promo will support the profile.
