Musicbank signs licensing deal with EMI

Online music company Musicbank has signed a deal with EMI to license recordings for its digital music service.

LONDON (Brand Republic) – Online music company Musicbank has signed a deal with EMI to license recordings for its digital music service.

EMI is the last of the big five music companies to sign an agreement with Musicbank, which plans to launch a service that will allow users to scan their favourite CDs and listen to them online.

The San Francisco-based start-up plans eventually to offer the service through cable TV channels and wireless devices, and also intends to launch a legal subscription-based file-sharing service similar to Napster.
