The site, now in its 10th year, has launched its first awards. The inaugural honours were handed out on the basis of user product reviews on the site. Brands were able to pay to enhance their product's review page with additional information, pictures and ads.
The winning products – which included offerings from Lidl, Lego, Ikea and BT – will now be able to use the Mumsnet logo in their marketing materials and on websites.
The Mumsnet Best awards are expected to become an annual event. Submissions are already being accepted for next year's awards and provisional plans for a ceremony have been made. Additional categories, such as Health and Beauty, are likely to be added in 2012.
The site is also developing several lifestyle and entertainment partnerships with brands, to be announced later this year.
Mumsnet, co-founded by former journalist Justine Roberts, has 1.25 million members. The site became famous in the build-up to last year's General Election, when the main party leaders participated in a series of live webchats with the site's forum users.
Several brands deemed inappropriate are banned from advertising on the site, including McDonald's and Nestlé.
