Taylor has assumed the role of acting executive vice-president, content and creative, director of television. She replaces Heather Jones, who is on maternity leave.
On top of her marketing responsibilities, Taylor will now be in charge of all content, acquisitions and commissions across the network's channels, including MTV and Viva.
She joined MTV from Virgin Media in October 2007, where she was director, creative, marketing and on-air, and worked across Living, Bravo, Trouble, Challenge and FTN.
Although Taylor has not had direct responsibility for content before, Jones has always shared programming decisions with her as marketing is fully integrated into the MTV business.
Taylor said: "MTV has always been about the brand and has championed marketing throughout the business on both a national and international level. We’ve always been very joined up and my taking on this role temporarily will help us to be even more so."
She added: "MTV makes sure what it stands for as a brand is reflected throughout all of its content. We have a long heritage in targeting a youth audience and, when we work with advertisers, they feel we give them that direct and credible contact."
Jones will return to the position of executive vice-president, content and creative, director of television after her maternity leave. The exact date of her return is yet to be confirmed.
