The music broadcaster has commissioned new-media company Skinkers to produce an animated Desktop Ozzy for a microsite developed for series two of , which it intends to offer as a co-branded service with media partners.
Fans can download the animation to get gossip, swearing and video live news from the show.
Links to the site, access to a Jack and Kelly online fighting game for the show and a screensaver will be featured along with exclusive material from the show on a covermounted CD-rom, which is to be given away with the Sunday Star next month.
Matthew Kershaw, head of interactive at MTV Networks UK & Ireland, said: "It is all to do with bringing the Osbournes to new places and putting Ozzy on people's desktops really appealed. The real time aspect makes sense to us as a TV company so you can say things like at five to 10 on a Wednesday: 'What are you doing here when I am on your TV?'"
He added: "The site for the first series was a big success with viewers and our sponsor Nik Naks, and had a lot of traffic. But as the new series shows the Osbournes doing much more in their lives, like going on tour, then we wanted to take them difference places online."
The Osbournes microsite was designed by Specialmoves. According to MTV, more than a quarter-of-a-million users visited the Osbournes' site for the first series of the show.
