
The free iPad app features multimedia news content from the main site, as well as providing access to its Hotmail and Messenger products.
The app has the look and feel of the MSN UK website, with content organised into five channels – news, sport, entertainment, lifestyle, and cars.
It also enables users to bypass Apple's Safari browser to access its search engine Bing.
There are a range of ad formats for brands, including video pre-roll, banner placements, and content sponsorship. However, there are no advertisers at launch.
Peter Clifton, MSN's executive producer, said: "We want to bring our audience closer to the people and information that matters most to them, by providing the content they want, whenever they want it, and on the device they choose.
"MSN was already available on mobile, PC and Xbox 360 and so creating an iPad app was the next natural step."

Separately, The Scotsman has launched its first iPad app today (24 January). Featuring content from the Scottish national newspaper, the app is free for the first 30 days after downloading and costs £7.99 a month thereafter.
It will be sponsored for the first four months exclusively by East Coast, the rail operator.
