Nando's, the Portuguese restaurant chain, has appointed MPG Media Contacts to handle its £2 million media planning and buying account.

MPG took the account from MediaCom after a competitive pitch. Nando's has worked with MediaCom since 2006.

The media agency will now work with the creative agency Farm Communications, which was unaffected by the review, on the restaurant brand.

MPG's Nando's win follows the agency's capture last week of the consolidated bmi airline media account. MPG added the £5 million bmibaby account, which was previously handled by PHD, to its existing bmi business after a closed review process involving the incumbents.

Paul Frampton, the managing director of MPG, said: "Nando's has a hugely loyal following and doesn't need a traditional high reach media approach. Our integrated offering, where digital, content and CRM are hot-housed, is perfectly set up to deliver value for the brand."
