Morrisons sponsors childrens' football initiative

Morrisons has sponsored a holiday football camp for children aged 5-14 to be based in West Scotland, and has persuaded both Celtic and Rangers to participate.

The Morrisons Summer Soccer Camp will run throughout the school holidays, from 27 June to 5 August.

Celtic and Rangers will each run three week-long courses running for two hours per day for kids aged 5-14 in Glasgow.

The course normally costs £40, but is discounted to £20 for those spending £40 for at least four weeks over a six-week period from 2 May to 12 June at Morrisons 32 West Scotland stores.

Once customers have collected four qualifying till receipts, shoppers exchange them for a voucher to book the course directly with either Celtic or Rangers.

The Morrisons Summer Soccer Camp week will include coaching, games, information and advice to kids on diet, nutrition and general well-being – as well as a goody bag and final day presentation for all participants.

The scheme was developed by Billington Cartmell Scotland. David Guy, its business director, said: "We've created a grassroots football coaching promotion provided by two great Scottish football clubs. It's a real win|win campaign. Helping mum structure summer holiday activities and helping kids get healthy and active this summer."

Morrisons plans to launch a delivery service with US-based Fresh Direct in 2012.
