The move is an effort to build on the success of the title’s weekly podcast, 'The Monocle Weekly', available on its website Monocle.com and on iTunes.

The podcast, founded a year ago and featuring discussions, previews and interviews, is having a refresh to its format and has signed The Spanish Tourist Board as a sponsor.

Tyler Brûlé, Monocle’s editor-in-chief and host of the podcast, said: "We've had an overwhelming response from our listeners.

"Not only has it grown our subscriber base and boosted sales of the magazine, but it allows a regular, open discussion that embodies what Monocle is about – global affairs, business, culture and design."

According to Monocle, 'The Monocle Weekly' has a monthly average download of 250,000.
