Swede, a former content director at Bartle Bogle Hegarty, will join the WPP agency to work on accounts including Pepsi and will report to Kim Douglas, the chief strategic officer at Mindshare.
Douglas is building a small team of strategy directors to work on major clients across Mindshare's UK business.
Swede's appointment follows that of Giovanni Romero, a McKinsey strategist, to a similar role in June. However, Mindshare recently lost the services of its strategy director David Wilding, who joined PHD as the planning director.
In addition to BBH, Swede has also worked at Times Newspapers as the head of solutions and the music marketing agency Fruckt as a consultant. Douglas said: "We will continue to invest in our offer around knowledge and data on the one hand, and now creative thinking on the other.
"Anthony is a highly creative thinker who is eager to meet with the future and allows us to continue with a very clear and concise focus."
