The New Majority model has been developed over 18 months, and works on four groupings -- thrivers, seniors, elders and survivors -- with five sub-categories within each group, numbered level one through to level five.
The levels are based on a set of 14 criteria, including asset wealth, adoption of latest technologies, and financial sophistication. Level one represents those who score highest in these categories, and five those who score lowest.
Sarah Robson, research director at Millennium, said: "We believe that 'The New Majority' will offer those wishing to approach the mature market the best means possible to identify and address their core audience and that the tangible benefits of this product will be keenly felt by all users."
Millennium claims that more than 80% of all UK wealth is held by the mature market. The model is named after the fact that more than 50% of the UK's population will be over 50 by the year 2020.
