Microsoft to supply Office apps to Nokia handsets

LONDON - Microsoft is collaborating with phone manufacturer Nokia to install a version of its Office suite of applications on its mobile handsets.

Microsoft to supply Office apps to Nokia handsets

For Nokia, the move marks a fight-back against Apple and also Research in Motion, whose BlackBerry phones have proved popular in the business market. Microsoft meanwhile will gain some leverage against Google and others that provide free web-based applications on different handsets.

The applications will be marketed under the ‘Microsoft Office Mobile' brand and the first will be issued on Nokia's range of Eseries phones, which are targeted at business users.
