LONDON - Microsoft is launching its biggest UK campaign this Saturday (11 October), aimed at reinvigorating customers' interest in Windows software for PCs and promoting its Windows Vista, Windows Mobile and Windows Live products.

In an attempt to combat rivalry from Apple's popular Macintosh products and operating systems such as Linux, Microsoft is launching a new ‘Real PC' UK creative during the first live The X Factor show on ITV1 to encourage consumers to buy PC products.

The Crispin Porter + Bogusky devised campaign forms part of Microsoft's current multi-million dollar global marketing drive geared at promoting Windows for PC and mobile.

The ‘Real PC' campaign will cover simplifying windows.co.uk and working with retailers to make the PC buying experience more informative.

A core element of the campaign is to give PC users a public forum to share their own 'I'm a PC' moments by uploading them to windows.co.uk or by recording messages in a video pod that is touring the UK throughout October and November. People who upload a photo or video will have the opportunity to appear in online, TV and outdoor ads.

Universal McCann was responsible for the media planning and buying for the campaign in the UK.
