Microsoft Lumia will produce a total of five editions between 22 and 26 June, in partnership with the editorial teams from print and online publications including Protein and Grafik.
Each issue will cover one of five themes, including culture, music, fashion, design and sport, and in a shift away from the traditional newspaper format, in each instance the publication will include positive and uplifting content only.
The newspaper will also feature contributor stories sourced from life hacks, collaborator networks and social media platforms. Those who wish to submit their work can do so by using the hashtag #AchieveMore.
In addition to the newspaper, the editorial team responsible for each day's edititon will host a free workshop in partnership with Microsoft Lumia.
Members of the public will be able to visit the Five to Nine workspace at Protein Studios in east London to learn new creative skills and listen to industry professionals.
The initiative stems from recent findings by Red Dot Research Company that suggests people are working longer hours, which means they have less time to spend time doing things they are passionate about. In addition, the company found that 58% of those who use smartphones for work don’t use them to their full potential.
Microsoft opted to develop the newspaper in a bid to encourage people to get out of the office and embrace their creativity, and to highlight how technology enables people to work smarter and more efficiently.
Jules Grudniewicz, campaigns and partnerships manager at Microsoft Devices in UK & Ireland, said: "With time so often at a premium, Microsoft Lumia is committed to enabling people to get the most out of their days.
"Using the combined power of Microsoft devices, we will create a fresh new publication that will help commuters go to work with a smile on their faces, reinvigorated."
William Rowe, founder and chief executive of Protein, added: "With Microsoft Lumia, you have everything you need to write, take photos, create, design and manage at your fingertips. We’re incredibly excited about the challenge and can’t wait to see the results."
A total of 10,000 copies of the newspaper will be distributed to commuters in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol and Edinburgh.
